The New York Cosmos are back! After decades of attempts at a revival, the club is officially joining the North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of North American soccer. The team hasn’t played in almost 30 years, but it is still famous for fielding such stars as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer and Giorgio Chinaglia. The Cosmos will begin NASL play in 2013, with hopes of moving to MLS as the league’s 20th franchise if a deal for a new stadium can be worked out. Welcome back, Cosmos!
