Javi Martinez to Bayern Munich? The German club may have just wrapped up their offseason with the signing of Athletic Bilbao’s defender Javi Martinez. The hefty transfer price of €40 million for Martinez, the 23-year-old Spanish international, seemed to be keeping Bayern away, but Bild reports that Martinez has agreed to take a cut in his salary to help fund the move. If Bild is right, then a five-year deal has been agreed upon with Martinez accepting €2 million less per year, effectively saving Bayern €10 million on his transfer fee. It’s great business if true for Bayern who have made some fantastic moves this summer, securing Mario Mandzukic, Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante and Claudio Pizarro as well.
