Tonight the United States won 1-0 at Estadio Azteca against Mexico, which is the first ever win for the USMNT on Mexican soil in 75 years of play. That was a streak of 24 matches without a win. While Mexico seemed the better side for most of the game, a Michael Orozco Fiscal goal made the difference, along with some world class saves by Tim Howard. This year Jurgen Klinsmann has won in Italy against the Italian national team and in Mexico against the Mexican national team, which are two countries that the U.S. had previously never won in before.

Men’s Olympic Football: Final

The Mexican team stunned Brazil at the start with a goal within the first 30 seconds and soaked up Brazilian pressure well. In the second half Brazil piled on even more pressure, but Mexico answered in the 75th minute with another goal to seal their gold medal win in a great team performance. Brazil did score in the the 90th minute to make it 2-1, but it was too late for a comeback. In the bronze medal match yesterday South Korea and Japan fought hard, with South Korea winning 2-0.
