Men’s Olympic Football: Quarterfinals

While the women’s games saw more dominant performances, there were some very closely contested matches in the men’s quarterfinals games. In the end probably the stronger of the teams have all made it through to the semifinals, which will be played on August 7th, but the spirit of underdog teams like Honduras and Senegal gave this tournament a great boost.

Quarterfinal Results:

• Japan 3-0 Egypt
• Mexico 4-2 Senegal (after extra time)
• Brazil 3-2 Honduras
• Great Britain 1-1* South Korea (* win 5-4 on penalties)

Semifinal Match-ups:

• Mexico vs. Japan
• South Korea vs. Brazil

Men’s Olympic Football: Matchday 3

The stage is set for the Olympic knockout round. After today’s results, Great Britain and Senegal from Group A will play in the quarterfinals. From Group B, Mexico and South Korea move on.
